I've dealt with sacroiliac joint related sciatica off and on for several years. Your tutorial with GREAT visuals helps my mechanical mind understand what's going on in there. We could not ASSk for a better teacher! LOL Seriously, thank you. : )

Thank you! This is super helpful for me. So, no more deep stretches for you, sciatic nerve.

Looking forward to the next video.

So deep stretches definitely have their place, but not when the sciatic nerve is irritated or your in an acute phase and it needs to be supported by strengthening as well xx

Currently suffering with sciatica, no back pain, but terribly pain in buttock and leg and heel of my foot. Any tips on how to deal with this. I believe that I have a hypertonic pelvis, so muscles are very tight, so could this be due to the glute muscles not being strong enough and therefore the piriformis is tight?

Expand full comment

This is definitely a possibility but I couldn’t give an answer over the internet as there’s so many moving parts. If you have a hypertonic pelvic floor the very best place to start is with belly breathing to start to train your pelvic floor to relax. I’ve got two videos that you might find helpful I’ll just find them for you x

Love this series idea! Super interesting, thank you! I'm studying to become a geriatric nurse practitioner and see this problem a lot. It's nice to have different treatment options to talk about with your patients. 😊

Really interesting thank you. Particularly the point about the piriformis trying to stabilise weak glutes.

This is so helpful to actually see how the nerves and muscles work (or don’t) together, and why it’s so important to be aware and mindful of everyone’s individual needs rather than throwing blanket approaches at them. 🫶🏼
